Last night Kelly and I were both feeling pretty worn down. Weathered, you might say, by a lot of pretty big stuff that’s been going on like buying our new house and moving, life being busy, and the need to make decisions and plans for the future. Where to travel this winter to escape the cold weather for example. And speaking of the weather it was really really cold, rainy, and windy last night. We needed to pick up some gluten free groceries so we drove to Camrose together, talking mostly about work on the way. As I tried to keep the car on the road, fighting the 70km/hr or so winds, I got to thinking that it would be nice to take my wife out on a date.
We went to a restaurant that Kelly’s parents go to quite often, and the food was really really good. I had char broiled salmon and scallops with stuffed potato, vegetables, and seafood chowder to start. Kelly had the chicken cordon bleu. We had such a great talk while we enjoyed our meal, and then went to the theatre and caught a movie (it was cheap Tuesday, how could we not?). And even though we were both still really tired on the way home and the wind and rain were still blowing like crazy, I felt better. It’s important to show the person you love the most that you love them, the most.
